Wondering what to do on a Friday night with the family? Why not break out of prison? Escape rooms have steadily grown in popularity over the past several years. The concept of an escape room has been around for several decades, usually appearing in various degrees on television gameshows. It wasn’t until 2011 that escape rooms became marketed as recreational activates for the public.
Most escape rooms consist of a series of puzzles and riddles. Participants will be given an introduction at the beginning of their timed experience. The introduction typically involves a fictional scenario of why the participants are in the room, and why they must solve puzzles and riddles to escape. For example, the participants are in prison to await execution for a crime they didn’t commit, and have 15 minutes to escape with their lives.
There are escape rooms in many cities throughout the world. Here’s a list of a few popular escape rooms.
